The Kingdom of Happiness
J. Krishnamurti, talks in Eerde Castle, Holland, 1926

The Kingdom of Happiness gathers the talks given to friends circle in the summer of 1926. Here, Jiddu Krishnamurti is found talking with great decision and about matters which he will develop later.
Krishnamurti traces the origin of the spirit of religious bigotry and sectarian intolerance as well to the institution of the spiritual mediators of Truth. Freedom implies independence more so in the search for Truth; for Truth cannot be compromised.
"The sense of unity is what matters most in life; that is the only food you can give to the hungry, the only solution to all the problems of life. The intolerant idea, that you must be wrong if you are independent, but right if you follow me -my special intuition, my special Master, my special Deity, is contrary to spiritual progress."

Foreword from J. Krishnamurti
I have been asked to write a foreword to the following pages. Frankly they do not need it, but perhaps some sort of an explanation is necessary for their appearance.
They are talks given to certain friends of mine at the Castle of Eerde, Ommen, Holland. The Castle is of the early eighteenth century style of building, and it is supposed to be one of the best specimens of that period. It certainly is one of the most beautiful places that I know. Everything in the Castle is of that period, and is in perfect condition. The Gobelins are wonderful, and they give an atmosphere of ancient dignity and beauty. Great trees two or three hundred years old surround the Castle, and their mighty tops disappear into the clouds, and there you can hear strange whisperings.
The place is full of charm and happiness, and my talks naturally turned on that eternal subject.
